It’s Friday night. We’re deciding where to go eat out. My friend Denny pulls out his iPhone and starts searching for a restaurant. Having a smart phone now means that one can search for and find whatever you want, anytime. What’s even better is that the search result is organized in a way that local results come up first. As a small business owner, this can be a great opportunity to get found by a motivated customer.
The easiest way for a small business to take advantage of this is by creating a profile on as many relevant local search engine sites as possible. We’ve compiled a list of the leading local search websites where you can create a business profile. While the basic business information should stay the same, try writing unique descriptions instead of copying and pasting the same information. Some search engines, including Google, are known to flag duplicate content as they view it as spam.
